The key to finding your perfect vintage piece is knowing your measurements. Once you know your basic measurement combination preferences, you can switch things up for a desired fit or style of jean you would like to add to your collection.
We have two types of measurements when fitting vintage: “actual measurement” and “wear measurements”.
Actual = the accurate measurement of your body.
Wear = the measurements of the clothing item that fits you best.
ACTUAL MEASUREMENTS:
These measurements are taken along the body.
WAIST: Measure your waist around the smallest part of your torso. This is usually the distinct area between your stomach and ribs.
RISE: This measurement will determine “how high waisted” you want your jeans. Measure from the crotch up to where you would like your jeans to fit.
HIP: Measure the fullest part around your bottom. This is usually around the top of the thigh and a few inches below the hip bone.
INSEAM: Measure the length from the crotch to the ankles. This measurement will insure the leg of the jean is long enough.
TIP: We usually suggest “sizing down” 1-2” on the “wear measurement” waist and hip if you like your jeans more fitted.

WEAR MEASUREMENTS:
Once you find a piece that fits you perfectly, you can take the “wear measurement”. This combination of measurements is “how you like your clothes to fit” and are taken of the clothing piece itself.
WAIST: Measure the waist of your jeans by buttoning up the pair and laying it down front-side up on a flat surface, without any wrinkles. Measure the waistband from end-to-end in a straight line and double the number. We measure this twice, a “loose/flat measurement” and a “taut measurement” just in case you or the jeans are in between sizes.
RISE: Measure from the crotch seam to the top of the waistband.
HIP: The hip measurement is taken across the jeans at the base of the zipper. This ensures accurate measuring throughout every pair of jeans.
INSEAM: Measure from the crotch seam down the leg seam to the bottom of the hem.
